The G6118T Players Edition Anniversary from Gretsch supplies you with the classic hollowbody tone that so many rockabilly, jazz, blues, and rock players have fallen in love with over the decades. Thanks to an arched maple body, the G6118T delivers an open-sounding snap, putting its tone front and center of any mix. A smooth maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard offers incredible response and playability, letting you rip off smoking leads and fat, chugging chords. And when you plug in, a pair of FT-67 Filter'Tron humbucking pickups delivers all the snarl and purr you desire. Finally, a classic Bigsby tailpiece provides vintage, twangy tremolo and sustain.
Maple is considered by many to be one of the most lively, bright, and colorful tonewoods out there, which is exactly why Gretsch decided to make their Gretsch G6118T Players Edition Anniversary almost entirely out of this wonderful wood. At Maxwell's House of Music, we've found that this hollowbody's arched body yields a snappy, open tone that — when combined with the pristine sound of its Filter'Tron humbuckers — sounds wonderful across a variety of musical styles.
The Gretsch G6118T Players Edition Anniversary packs a wide-ranging voice, thanks to two FT-67 Filter'Tron humbuckers. These pickups deliver a broad range of tones, spanning a clear high end, a glassy midrange, a robust low end, and balanced harmonics. And with these renowned noise-canceling 'buckers, you know your tone will be the show stealer of the night! The 6118T also features a volume control for each pickup, so you can create your perfect balance of warmth, bite, and brilliance when both pickups are engaged. The master tone control lets you fine-tune your sound once you have the pickups dialed in; thanks to the master volume control, you can take your tube amp from clean to growling without changing the balance between your pickups. Of course, you'll get sweet tone from the neck and bridge pickups individually, but there's a lot of territory to cover when you combine them.
Nothing beats the character and vintage vibe that a real Bigsby-style tailpiece adds to the Gretsch G6118T Players Edition Anniversary. Based on the original design created by Paul A. Bigsby, this Bigsby-licensed tailpiece requires little effort to use, making it particularly easy to pull off slow, subtle, and extended bends.
