Nate Hayden is a native of Paducah, Ky. Nate graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in 2000 and holds a Master’s in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has been teaching for 15 years, and has been the choral director at Charlestown Middle and High School since 2002. During his tenure, the choral department has seen an increase in student participation and now has over 300 students combined. Mr. Hayden is also the state representative for the Acappella Educators Association, which advocates, coaches, and networks other teachers who have Contemporary A Cappella groups at their schools, or desire to start such a group. Being an alumnus of the UK a cappella group, the acoUstiKats (The Sing-off, season 3), Mr. Hayden has used his passion to create the Charlestown High School SCALiWAGS, now in their ninth year, and just recently started another group, the CastAways. Mr. Hayden is the 2015 recipient of the Indiana Music Educators Association “Middle School Music Teacher of the Year”. He is a worship leader for Northeast Christian Church in Louisville, Ky., where he resides with his wife, Sara, and two wonderful children, McKenna and Connor, and they loyal canine, Maxine “Maxie”.
